Are all Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) cabinets created equal?
Great question and the answer is NO. Like any major purchase it is a good idea to do your homework. The majority of Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) cabinets have a particle board, laminated cabinet box and a hard wood door. Other corners will be cut by not adding a toe kick to the front bottom, natural interiors in the box and drawers and plastic hardware. Peak Cabinet Company Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) cabinets have a 7-plywood box, solid wood doors, metal hardware. Plus, the interior box and drawers are stain finished to match the exterior of our cabinets. No matter if you purchase a Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) cabinet or a big name brand cabinet: you always want to steer clear of particle board/pressboard in the kitchen and bathroom. Due the moisture levels in these rooms the particle board/pressboard will draw that moisture wand warp over time. If a laminate was applied to the particle board/pressboard it will also begin to peel. TAS
What is the best method to attach crown molding to cabinets?
Well, this depends on the door overlay of your cabinet. Some cabinets have a ½ inch or more of exposed ‘frame’ around the cabinet. Some cabinets have no exposed ‘frame’. Ideally you want a cabinet that has some exposed ‘frame’ at the top. We have found over time that the best method is to attach a wall filler to the top of the cabinets. In most cases you lay the filler on its side which gives you a nice ‘lip’ at the top of the cabinet and the added support to attach the crown. It’s important that you have enough clearance from the top of your cabinets and the ceiling to be able to work in that space also. Crown molding is a beautiful touch to finish or ‘dress’ your cabinets. However, it also takes someone with patience and in most cases a skilled finish carpenter to install it where the seams and corners are done properly. TAS
What is your feature “Find a Contractor”?
This is a free service to our customers throughout the country that may not have a contractor to help them with their home improvement projects. Even though Peak Home Products has the contractor’s information on file and checked their reference before put them on the reference list: Peak Home Products highly recommends that YOU interview each contractor, check their reference (even ask to come see another home owner’s finished work) and always ask for a quote. Peak Home Products, or their entities, in no way endorses or accepts responsibility for the “Find a Contractor” service and all liability will be between you and the contractor as negotiated between you and the contractor. What if there is visible damage of my shipment when it arrives?
Peak Home Products is very fortunate to have a great LTL carrier, however, accidents do happen on occasion. Should your shipment arrive and you can SEE the damage, you have several options: 1. Deny shipment 2. Accept shipment with limitations. Meaning: take the remainder of the shipment and not the articles that are visibly damaged. 3. Accept the entire shipment. NO MATTER WHAT: YOU MUST NOTE ON THE BOL (Bill of Lading) the damage as you see it, sign the BOL and have the delivery driver sign the BOL also. Peak Home Products will then need you take pictures of the damaged goods and send us a copy of the BOL. Once we have those, we can issue a replacement, at no additional cost to you. If the damage is CONCEALED: you have 30 days from the date of delivery to make Peak Home Products aware of that damage. Again, we will need pictures of the damage and some forms provided by you telling us about the damage. We will replace that damaged piece and ask for it back if required by the manufacturer. TAS
What is needed by me to take care of your FREE Design Service and is it really FREE?
Yes, our design service is FREE. In most cases we will provide you with two drawings of your kitchen or bath. We then provide you with two revisions of your chosen drawing. The Designer reserves the right to charge you up to $50 for each additional revision or ‘new’ drawing after that, on a case by case basis. Once you have submitted your specs to the Peak Home Products Design Team, please allow 5 business days to receive your initial drawings. Communication is imperative with your Designer, because we may never step foot in your home. Peak Home Products is not responsible for your measurements or items mis-ordered by you. Mis-orders will incur a 25% restocking fee and return shipping is at your expense. Things the Designers need from you: Pictures of your current kitchen are very helpful. Measurements. Wall to Wall. Windows. Doorways. Where do the windows and doorways sit on the walls. Ceiling height. Anything odd, such as floor registers, ceiling beams, furnace ducting, etc. Appliance measurements, if applicable, otherwise we will use standard appliance sizing. Where is the plumbing located? Gas/electric for the stove located. Can the plumbing, gas/electric be moved? Are you removing any walls? Is this addition? Lifestyle (kids, pets, entertaining) and wish list for your new kitchen or bath. Did you purchase a kitchen at auction? If so, we will need the WIDTH of the cabinets you currently have to work them into the design. Contact information, including: ship to address, billing address, phone number(s) and email address. TAS
I have an oven cabinet 96 x 33 x 23 1/2 and I believe that this cabinet fits a 30" double wall oven. Could you please confirm. Thanks
Thank you for your inquiry into the Peak Home Products Website. When we designed the oven cabinet, we took all the measurements from ovens sold at Sears (biggest retailer of appliances in the country). The opening is approx. 30" wide. In some cases you may need to cut the opening to fit the ovens or you may have to shim the ovens if they are smaller than the opening. Most manufacturers have a trim kit available to go with their appliances if you should need one to cover any gaps around the oven. Should you need any further information, please let me know. All the best, Trish
