Favorite things in Kitchen Design in 2011
My favorite things in Kitchen Design and Remodeling in 2011
1. Aging in Place or Universal Design- If you are building a new home or remodeling your current one this is imperative in your design. Making sure that the doorways are wide enough to accomadate a walker or wheelchair. What about ramps and shower access? Ask your contractor about this before you sign off on any design.
2. Glass Tile- a little goes a long way here. Glass tile is very now and it's expensive. However, because it comes in 12x12 sheets that are meshed together, try cutting off two rows and using it as an accent on a backsplash.
3. Tile Vertical instead of Horizontal-just because we have been tiling a backsplash horizontally since the beginning of time, doesn't mean we have to do it any more.
3. Colors-Sage Green/Lavender/Gray and white....oh la la!
4. LG appliances...LOVE these appliances. So many choices and great quality.
5. Delta touch faucets. Imagine your hands covered in bread dough or meatloaf mix and you can just touch the faucet to turn on the water?
6. Behr paint with primer. Spend the extra...it's worth it.
7. Wall cabinets that come down to touch the countertops! Love this look, but don't over do it. Don't want to lose counterspace.
8. Three tub sinks. Large bowl for pans, slender center for garbage disposal and smaller bowl.
9. Rev-a-Shelf storage pieces. Everything from trash can kits to spice pull outs, there is something for everyone and all your needs.
10. Undercabinet lighting. Lighting is very important and undercabinet lights are great for those dark corners and add great accent to your space.
I'm anxious to see what will be hot and intivative in 2012.
